Dear freshers,
Congrats for making it to uni ππ½ππ. Here’s a short message from me to you.
Respect everyone you see on campus irrespective of height. The shortest person might be your lecturer.
Be studious and build your GPA especially in level 100.
Choose friends wisely and be good to them. The real ones will stay through thick and thin.
Don’t choose a course because your friend or roommate is choosing it. You may regret in future.
Involve yourself in school activities. Well, not every single activity but make sure you do something positive aside academics.
Take up leadership roles. You can start by volunteering to be a course rep.
DRESS DECENTLY. You can still look good when you’re decently dressed. Don’t think it’s a university and you have your freedom so you can do anything anyhow. University is an educational setting. Not a pageantry. Respect your dignity.
If you reside in a hall or hostel, please, go to church on Sundays unless you have an exam. Don’t be lazy.
Check your students’ mail everyday. Let it be part of your social media. Mostly, opportunities like; scholarships, internships and even national service are sent there and a lot of people have missed it.
Also, read and research about anything or any place you’d be doing or visiting for the first time on campus just to save time to avoid being βlostβ on campus.
Ask questions when you’re in doubt of anything. No one can read your mind. It’s normal to be confused in level 100.
Have fun and enjoy campus life in general but make sure the enjoyment is sensible.
Please don’t be afraid to talk to someone when you’re facing any form of difficulty. Make good use of the Guidance and Counselling Centre in your school or talk to a reliable friend.
Last but importantly, take prayers very seriously. Ask the Holy Spirit for directions when you’re confused. Friends may mislead you.
I wish you the very best in your studies and all other activities. Congratulations once again!! π€
